SUNDAY, JULY 12TH - ORDER OF THE FLAGON : SESSION 8 RECAP

The party set out to go back to Anatar’s Dell and check in with their patron. As they camped that night, on Milosh’s watch, the moon was full casting strange shadows through the forest of Cormanthor. As the others slept the Elven wizard kept vigil, but as the night drew on he felt a sudden wave of fear roll over him, then he heard the sound of great wings beating the air. He watched in horror as an enormous figure flew overhead, the tips of vast wings just clearing the tree tops. He realized the creature was a red dragon, and adult or older from the size of it. He could not move, he could only watch frozen in fear as it flew by thankfully not noticing the group sleeping below. 

The next morning as Milosh shared what passed them by in the night, the decided to scout ahead, sending Forlan the Ranger out in front of them to ensure there was nothing lying in wait for them. What Forlan found in the woods less than a mile from where the party waited his return, the Ranger found a sizable war band of Orcs, at least three dozen strong. Coming back quietly he told the party what he had discovered so they opted to note the position of the Orcs to alert others, and made their way further into the forest in an effort to circle around the monsters. Their going was slow and they had to make camp as the day drew to a close. 

That night on watch Ulbrik saw a strange creature moving alone through the forest. The thing saw the Dwarf as he moved to hide, and it spoke to him in his mind, but the language was both foul and foreign to Ulbrik. Shaking Rhonin awake as he was the closest, the party was roused to fight. The creature was a Barbed Devil. The fight was vicious, leaving several of the party grievously wounded, but the devil was slain, it’s body dissolving in a black mist.
