SATURDAY, FEB 7TH - MASTER AND APPRENTICE CAMPAIGN 1 : SESSION 3 RECAP; PART 2
What’s going on, everybody? Aldor here, back with part two of our Session 3 recap.
Where we left off, Cade and I were heading into the sewers to track down our attackers. We had no idea where our wizard, Ukalis, was, but we figured he was safe. More importantly, we needed to find out who these people were and where they came from. So down we went.
We tracked our wounded enemy for what felt like forever until we reached a large open room deep under the city. There, it looked like our contact, Melania, was being held captive by a group of hooded men. This supposed man in charge killed the wounded henchman in front of everyone for failing his assignment with some kind of eldritch blast. When Melania refused to give up any more information, this new mysterious leader began to cast a portal to another location.
Because I’m the quiet one (and because Cade never stops talking about his Hot Wheels collection), I had snuck ahead. I fell back to give him the information.
We agreed it was best that Cade try to go back and get help. As he took off toward the nearest manhole cover, I climbed back to a vantage point to see what our adversaries were doing. I returned just in time to watch the apparent leader summon three creatures—rats walking on two legs. He stepped through the portal, taking Melania with him.
Now alone in the sewers with these newly summoned monsters and their handlers, I heard them command the rat-creatures to pick up the trail of the wounded henchman that made it back to them. I started dropping caltrops and made for the nearest manhole, I knew this trail would bring them right to me.
As I reached the top of the ladder, I barely made it in time—the ghoulish, bipedal rats were scraping at my heels. I slammed the cover shut, topped it with a cart and barrel, and ran toward the middle of the street, trying to get my bearings to my way back to the shop.
These attackers were brazen. Right in the middle of the street, they let these creatures chase me with absolutely zero regard for innocent civilian life—or for being seen by the guards. I covered my face, shouted a warning to everyone nearby, and sprinted toward Odds & Ends.
I managed to shake the rat-men and their handlers just long enough to set up a vantage point across from the shop and warn my compatriots (flawlessly I may add) about the incoming trouble.
Session Three ended with the rats bursting through our front door and tearing up the stairs toward Cade and our recently absent wizard Ukalis as they prepare for the toughest fight we've had.
We’ll see what happens tomorrow night.
Many questions remain: Who was the hooded leader of this underground syndicate? How did he control creatures like that? Is Melania rebelling against some darker society or covenant against her will, trying to save the heir of Algondar? Or is the story unraveling in a completely different way, revealing entirely new and mysterious factions?
We’ll find out together… in The Maze.
