SATURDAY JAN 31ST, MASTER & APPRENTICE CAMPAIGN 1 : SESSION 2

What's going on everyone! Welcome back to the Forgotten Realms for this Session 2 Recap of the Master and Apprentice Campaign!

Greetings Traveler, it is I, Aldor to fill you in on where our traveling band of misunderstood saints is these days….right where were we….AH! Back to my good friend Cade surprised a group of orcs with his uncanny stealth abilities and we entered our first true combat on this adventure! As I knew we would, we dispatch the orcs and send them to a better place in truly expert fashion and redistribute their wealth among our good and god fearing party. After burying them with full soldiers honor, we carry on down the path and we find what looks to be the ruins of the logging settlement, Conyberry.

While there, bringing reprieve to the tormented souls of the townspeople befell by the Uthgardt wolf tribe, we also plan to rest. Fresh off of the adrenaline of battle we all forget to eat dinner, but honestly that's a bonus to keep us spry and nimble. I take the first watch after laying some traps with our resident arch mage and employer Ukalis. He leaves some runes on the road, I know now to be “The rune of waking the hell up” I guess, but more on that later. Next watch was our mysterious Ukalis - but something goes horribly wrong here.

Word must have gotten out that we were the most handsome travelers on the sword coast, because someone snuck up and casted a spell of “go to sleep at the most inopportune time” on our brave wizard, because somehow, a band of miscreants were in our midst without his rune, or his watch, picking up on it. Luckily, quick witted as ever, he somehow set off his rune, which sounded like a great dragon bellowing out a roar! You can imagine in the moment how scary that must have been for Cade, I however, dealing with dragons before knew this wasn't a real dragon by the sound of the howl, distinctly synthetic.

To set my good friend Cade up for success, I leap up from our underground camp (hidden in the root cellar of the skeleton of a ruined home in town) to check for attackers. AVAST! One was right on us, he swung and I tactically somersaulted back into our makeshift quarters. It was clear that Cade had never seen someone with such finesse because he asked me if I was ok? I told him of course I'm perfectly fine and jumped back up in a single leap and dispatched the attacker before anyone could even see him. We then both assisted our friend Ukalis in dispatching this band of what we came to realize were orcs. It would seem as if we are getting too close to something they hold dear, so we press on to the temple sanctuary referred to us by Melania.

We get there the next morning and all seems abandoned until we push into the ruins of a guard tower. Cade moved a barricade and we came across a warband of orcs along with their leader, a large brute. Quick thinking on my part I instructed Cade to push the barricade back and improvised a fire bomb out of an oil cask and my tinderbox. Chucking that and a smoke bomb into the trapped orcs we burned 2 of them to a crisp (sorry mom) and forced them to break out of the back of the crumbling structure and meet us head on in the courtyard via a hole in the wall. Finally our employer Ukalis shows us his true might and blasts an orc into ethereal dust (make sure to not ask for a raise too soon) and Cade handles the others with ease. As the last one tries to escape, I cast my net with the accuracy of Malar himself! We stop the orc, and after he proves clueless to our quest, we let him go, we are heroes after all.

We move further into a trap door we found in the courtyard and come to the inner sanctum of what we now know was a Sanctuary of Tempus, Cade’s patron deity. Before Cade can start praying, skeletons rain down on us from all corners of the mossy tomb. With no time to set up traps, I was forced to resort to using dagger throwing to assist my comrades. Though most couldn't make use of a piercing weapon against the ghouls and wights of the undead, my aim was true and I aimed expertly for the rib cages and limbs of the attacking cadavers to slow them down. Our party dispatched the horde of undead (there must have been 30 of them!) and got to the altar where we found a book, probably of some recipes or something. However one of the undead appeared to have an amulet matching the description of the one we were looking for.

Our Mage Ukalis will do some identifying of that from the safety of our shop. When identifying magic, Ukalis also notices the dagger I liberated from one of the orcs and has magic energy tied to it as well, so I guess we'll see what that does. We make it back to our shop, all things in order and find a note left by Melania asking about our progress. We will soon be in touch with her and sort out his necklace situation. If the rumor is true and this necklace can find someone, this could very much influence who is going to rule Neverwinter - more over, it MUST NOT fall into the hands of Jeralt. Until next time! If you need a magic potion or any odds and ends, stop by our shop, I will likely be on the front stairs, see you then, and if not, see you next time in the Master and Apprentice Campaign Part 3! Coming this Saturday February 7th!
