WHATS IN ROTATION : MOVIES AND STREAMING OF 2026 SO FAR…
What's going on everybody? Stephen here from The Apprentice Corner, and today I wanted to talk a little bit about what's currently in rotation when it comes to movies and TV shows.
As has become a recurring theme in a lot of my posts lately, I have to start with a disclaimer: I don't have nearly as much free time as I used to. Between work, family, projects, and everything else life likes to throw onto the calendar, my watchlist is a lot smaller than it was a few years ago.
That said, every once in a while some things comes along that are too good not to recommend!
Apple TV Continues to Impress!
I've mentioned Widows Bay briefly on the podcast before, but it's worth bringing up again because the show is absolutely fantastic.
Without getting too deep into spoiler territory, it's one of those rare shows that grabs your attention early and never really lets go. The atmosphere, writing, and overall presentation come together in a way that's increasingly hard to find these days.

Not long after finishing Widows Bay, we started watching another Apple TV+ series: SILO.
And honestly?
I was completely caught off guard by how much I enjoyed it.
For a long time, I viewed Apple TV+ as one of the weaker streaming services. It had a few standout titles, but nothing that really pulled me in. Lately, though, it feels like they're doing almost nothing but releasing hit after hit.
I started Silo on a whim one evening when I had a little free time. Before long, Maddie became interested enough that she made me restart the first episode so she could watch from the beginning.
From that point on, every spare moment we've had has gone into catching up on the series.
Why Silo Works So Well
The easiest comparison I can make is that Silo hooked me the same way FROM and Season 1 of Wayward Pines did.
And yes, I'm still bitter about what happened to Wayward Pines after that first season…
I may never recover.
What makes Silo so good is that it isn't just science fiction. While it definitely falls into the sci-fi category, it also works as a mystery, a thriller, and a suspense story. The central question of the series is simple enough:
Why are all these people living in a giant underground silo, and what's really happening outside?
The show does an incredible job of giving viewers just enough information to stay invested while holding back enough to keep the mystery alive. Every episode feels like it delivers answers, but every answer raises new questions.
The character development is equally strong. Watching different characters react to challenges, uncover secrets, and evolve throughout the story has been one of the highlights of the series. Obviously, a stand out is Rebecca Ferguson, as always, in her role as Julliette. Her character arc is amazing so far.
Maddie and I eventually caught up to the current release schedule, so now we're waiting for new episodes every Friday. That's always a bittersweet moment when you finally burn through a show you're enjoying and suddenly have to wait with everyone else.
If you haven't watched Silo, I highly recommend it.
On the Movie Front
Movies have been a little quieter for me recently, but I did finally get around to watching Project Hail Mary.
I read Andy Weir's novel a few years ago after it was recommended to me, and it quickly became one of my favorite science fiction books. The film adaptation starring Ryan Gosling does a surprisingly good job of capturing what made the book special.
Outside of that, I've been keeping up with several recent horror releases including Obsession, HOKUM, Passenger, and of course The Backrooms.
If you're new to my content, you may not know that I'm also involved with another content community that focuses heavily on horror, paranormal topics, and spooky media. So I wont bore you with my deeper thoughts on those movies here.

Looking ahead, I think a lot of eyes are going to be on the next Avengers movie and whatever Marvel decides to do moving forward. There's certainly plenty of discussion surrounding it already, and I'm interested to see how it all plays out.
Beyond that, I'll keep doing what I do: watch whatever catches my attention and sharing the gems I find along the way.
