What's going on everybody? Stephen "The Apprentice" here, and if you missed this year's BlizzCon, Blizzard dropped an absolute BANGER. Between the reveal of Diablo V, a new class coming to Diablo 4, and all the details surrounding Season 15, there's A LOT to unpack. Let's dive into the highlights.

Season 15: Season of Hell's Legacy

Season 15 launches TOMORROW and serves as Diablo's 30th Anniversary celebration. Blizzard is leaning heavily into nostalgia, bringing players face-to-face with echoes of some of the franchise's most iconic moments and villains. Deckard Cain returns to guide players through a seasonal storyline centered around the Prime Evils: Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto as all new boss encounters.

The new seasonal mechanic, Soul Splinters, allows players to harness fragments of Prime Evil power. Each Splinter offers powerful bonuses but comes with meaningful drawbacks, creating interesting risk-versus-reward decisions for every build. Rather than a simple power boost, you'll need to decide whether the tradeoff is worth it…

New Features Coming in Season 15

Season 15 isn't just another seasonal power. Blizzard is introducing several new systems alongside quality-of-life improvements and 30th anniversary content:

Soul Splinters with multiple rarity tiers and upgrade paths.
Legacy Uniques returning from earlier Diablo games, including fan favorites like Stone of Jordan and Leoric's Crown.
Rebirth System, allowing players to convert Eternal Realm characters into Seasonal characters.
Challenge Dungeons, offering new endgame opportunities.
Overland Ambushes, where Sanctuary fights back with dangerous surprise encounters.
Horadric Post, a new account-wide mailbox system for rewards and messages.

Honestly, many of these changes feel like Blizzard finally taking lessons learned from previous Diablo games and bringing them into Diablo 4. Which, you can argue they shouldve been doing that all along, and I would agree, but this game has come such a long way and I think to just write it off is silly. The truth is, this game is better now that it has EVER been and only gets better. Im excited about the future of the franchise as a whole, but the game that keeps me on my steam deck the most, is and has been Diablo IV for quite some time.

The Amazonians are Coming…

One of the biggest Diablo 4 reveals was the return of the Amazon class. Scheduled for the first half of 2027, the Amazon will bring bows, javelins, and a versatile combat style built around four archetypes: Champion, Skirmisher, Ranger, and Commander. My first impression, how will this class distinguish itself from the Rogue and the Spiritborn, it takes queues from both…I guess only time will tell? (Also, will they gender lock the amazon or not lol).

Diablo V Officially Announced

The headline announcement from BlizzCon was the confirmation that Diablo V is in development with a targeted release window of Spring 2029. Blizzard teased a darker storyline where Sanctuary has already fallen and Diablo has won. It's still very early, but the concept sounds incredibly promising.

The good news for Diablo 4 players is that Blizzard also confirmed the game isn't going anywhere. Season 16 and beyond are already planned, with connected seasonal storylines carrying forward into future updates. I understand players now feeling like some of the push to play the current game is lessened by the announcement, but honestly this is just how develiopment works, and theyre trying to be as communicative as possible, which is one of the biggest feedback items I, and many other Diablo fans have had since late D3 → D4 launch…so I like it! D4 still has a long life of content coming, but DV I hope will be another nice leap in features and lessons learned. Also, the launch classes have been announced!

Other Big Diablo News

A few additional announcements caught my attention:

Diablo IV is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
A new Diablo animated series is being developed with Netflix.
Future Diablo 4 seasons will continue building on ongoing story arcs rather than being completely disconnected each season.

As someone who's been playing Diablo since the early days, Season 15 feels like one of the most exciting updates Blizzard has released for Diablo 4. The return of classic items, Prime Evil-inspired powers, Deckard Cain, and the Amazon all show that Blizzard is embracing the franchise's history while continuing to push forward.

And perhaps most importantly, Blizzard made it clear that Diablo's future is bright. Diablo IV is getting major support for years to come, Diablo V is officially on the horizon, and Sanctuary continues to evolve.

For longtime Diablo fans, it's a great time to be back.
